About Marian
Founder of City Biomechanics | HBS2 Functional Patterns Practitioner
I’m Marian, and like many others, I got hurt by following the mainstream fitness playbook.
My movement journey started on the ice — I played hockey from the age of five. But like many one-sided sports, years of repetitive turning, twisting, and spiralling left me with major imbalances. When I stopped playing at fifteen, I turned to the gym for answers.
What followed was over a decade of doing all the “right” things: lifting heavy, cardio, HIIT, yoga, and more. The result? A long list of injuries, to name a few:

What followed was over a decade of doing all the “right” things: lifting heavy, cardio, HIIT, yoga, and more. The result? A long list of injuries, to name a few:
- Herniated L4-L5 disc
- Chronic sciatica
- Shoulder impingements
- Rotator cuff tear
Pain became normal. And like most people, I thought it was just part of the process.
That all changed when I discovered Functional Patterns. It wasn’t just another training method — it reframed everything I knew about movement, posture, and health. It explained the WHY behind my issues and finally offered a way forward.
Today, I run City Biomechanics — a private studio in King’s Cross dedicated entirely to Functional Patterns. I opened this space because trying to apply FP in a conventional gym is challenging for all the wrong reasons: too much noise, distractions, and a complete lack of biomechanical thinking.

CB exists to do the opposite — to offer a system developed by Functional Patterns founder Naudi Aguilar, built around how humans are actually meant to move:
- STANDING
- WALKING
- RUNNING
- THROWING
If you’ve been let down by traditional training or are stuck in pain, I get it — I’ve been there. But there is a better way. My goal is to help you find it by utilising the Functional Patterns methodology.
